FAQ
Why juice?
Because it can be a lot of work to munch through big quantities of fruits and vegetables – for you as a person as well as your body – juicing is a great possibility to make sure you get all the nutrients you need. Juices are stripped of fiber and are thus easily assimilated by your body and brought into your blood and lymph system. This way, your cells are supplied with the micronutrients they need to perform a dizzying array of bodily functions.
Why is JuiceBrothers the best?
We use only the best quality ingredients for the best recipes so we can offer you the best products. We use the cold pressed method to get the juice out of organic fruits and vegetables, keeping all the good intact. We do not heat (almost) all of our ingredients for other food and beverages for the same reason, keeping all the good intact. Our store is made for you to sit and enjoy your juice and food, relax and have your questions answered. Our staff is knowledgeable about our products, their health benefits and eager to answer your questions. We will leave you nourished and help you stay that way. Welcome to the good life.
What’s the expiry date of the juice?
You can keep deep-frozen juices in the freezer for at least 6 months at a minimum of -18°C. Juices can be kept in the refrigerator for a maximum of 4 days after thawing (max. 7°C). We recommend that you immediately drink your juices after thawing and always store them in a cool place to optimally preserve the nutrients in the juices.
Why is your juice bottled?
Since we want many many people to tap into healthy living and good food, we produce our juices in a significant volume enabling us to reach out. To produce cold pressed in a significant volume you need a big juicer that makes lots of liters of juice per ingredient. This then needs to be mixed according to our carefully selected recipes – a system that is accurate and guarantees our quality but needs a lot of space. That is why we chose to get extra space and design a special kitchen just for JuiceBrothers. So actually, by juicing at our production location and bottling juices every day, we can make sure our customers have the freshest juice possible!
Why does this juice look different from when I last purchased it?
Our juices are made by hand with natural ingredients. Mother nature doesn’t always produce the same in colour and taste so there might be a slight inconsistency. There are no fillers, binders or chemicals so they will naturally separate. Before drinking, give them a shake and they’re good to go.
How long does it take for the frozen juice to defrost?
You can defrost the juices you want to drink by placing them in the fridge at least 24 hours in advance (max. 7°C).
Is it organic?
Wherever possible, we go for organic ingredients. With all these fresh nutrients buzzing through your veins you wouldn’t want chemicals to be in there too. Unfortunately some ingredients have no certification such as salts, or some of the herbal powders we use. A problem that also occurs on rare occasions is non availability of produce in the organic shops, so we have turn to other alternatives such as ‘Milieukeur’ or produce of a farmer which is still in transition to organic.
Is it fresh upon delivery/sale?
We make our juice daily, shipping it to the shop the same day. This makes for a super fresh juice ready for you to grab in our shop!
Does our fruit and juice contain gluten?
All the food made by JuiceBrothers does not contain gluten. It could be that some traces of gluten are present because foods like oats are often produced alongside food containing gluten.
What about nuts or dairy? Is it vegan?
None of our products contain dairy, since all our foods are plant-based. So no meat, fish or eggs either. We do use honey in some of our recipes. Some of our products contain nuts, we will always list them! Please make sure you know which these products are. All of our products can contain traces of nuts because they are made alongside products containing nuts.
What sweeteners do you use?
Our juices have no additional sweeteners in them. We have combined the ingredients of our juices in such a way that they do not need anything besides fruit and vegetables. Some of our other products do have sweeteners though, like our mylks, salad dressings and desserts. Here we choose for natural sweeteners only, as unprocessed as we can find. Like honey, maple syrup, agave syrup coconut blossom nectar and stevia. These sweeteners have a lot lower glycemic index (GI) than processed sweeteners like sugar and they still possess their vitamin and mineral content, so they offer more than just sweetness.
What is the glycemic index (GI) of your juice, will it upset my blood sugar levels?
Our juice has no fiber, this makes it easily assimilated by your body and brought into your blood and lymph system. This way, your cells are supplied with the micronutrients they need to perform a dizzying array of bodily functions. This includes the natural sugars in fruits and vegetables. That’s why we add the greens! Greens have a low GI and contain very few carbohydrates. This means they will not cause a sudden spike in your blood glucose. Keep in mind that juicing facilitates the bioavailability and so is likely to make the GI of vegetable juice a bit higher than the whole vegetable still.
What is Alkaline water and why do you use it?
Alkaline water is water that has been made alkaline, by using the Kangen water system. This is a machine that filters the water and guides it past platinum plates, which changes the Ph value of the water. A Ph of 7 is ‘ neutral’, we provide you with water that has a Ph of 9,5. Your body needs to maintain a Ph value between 7.35 and 7.45 in the blood, in order to function. Nowadays, it’s under constant influence of acidic aspects like pollution and the food we eat. Almost all the food we eat makes our body more acidic, except fruits and vegetables. To help our bodies maintain it’s needed Ph value, we use the alkaline Kangen water. This way our body gets less acidic influences and thus has to spend less effort maintaining it’s well needed balance between Ph 7.35 and 7.45
Why do they not heat food over 42º in raw food?
Heating food above 42 ºC causes enzymes to begin to die, destroys nutrients and vitamins and alters the natural metabolic structure of the food. To be frank, this takes out the whole point of eating fruit and vegetables in the first place.
What is cold-pressed?
Cold pressing is the process of extracting nutrient-rich juice from fresh produce by using a hydraulic press. The term “cold” refers to avoiding heat during the extraction process. Fruits and vegetables are coarsely shredded and hydraulically pressed through bags. This means minimal generation of heat and thus minimal oxidation and maximal retention of nutrients. The juice is made from the freshest and highest quality produce we can get and stays alive throughout the production process.
Does juice leave a lot of waste? How do you use the pulp?
Because we extract all the juice out of fruits and vegetables, we are left with a lot of pulp. Not just any pulp, but high quality organic fruit and vegetable pulp. This is perfect for fertilizer, as addition to the diet of livestock like pigs and for instance to make paper. So that’s what we aim to do, making our printout materials on our own pulp as much as possible and working together with organic farmers to give our pulp back to the soil.
Why don’t you use glass bottles?
At the moment, plastic is the most environmentally friendly option we can choose. It needs fewer resources to create, fill, ship and distribute than glass. We use PET #1 plastic because Polyethylene terephthalate (PET or PETE) #1 does not leach, it’s considered the safest choice for single use plastic. Also, this type of plastic is the most efficient type for recycling. It’s much lighter than glass, so we have to use less fuel for transport and you will have less weight to carry, glass is up to nine times as much weight than plastic.
